Local Information - Grantown-on-Spey near Aviemore
Strathspey has so much to offer in the way of local attractions. There's the Aviemore centre, just a ten mile drive away, the Landmark Forest Park at Carr-Bridge and the Waltzing Waters of Newtonmore. The Highland Wildlife Park is just down the road in Kincraig and on an excursion to the Strathspey steam railway in Boat of Garten you can meet the well-known Loch Garten ospreys.
There are several well known golf courses nearby, as well as unlimited opportunities for hill walking, climbing, canoeing, sailing, go carting, clay pigeon shooting, pony trekking, tennis, skiing and off road jeep driving.
A ten minute walk from the back garden will take you onto the banks of the River Dulnain where you can take an evening stroll and watch the local birds and wildlife go about their lives in their natural habitat.
Half an hour's drive will take you to the highland capital of Inverness, which has a fine selection of shops and attractions including multi screen cinemas, ten pin bowling, swimming pools, museums, restaurants and theatres. Also close by is Urqhuart Castle and the world famous Loch Ness.
